Cordless Shark Detect Pro vs. PowerPro Flex

Updated: Jul 01, 2026

The Shark Detect Pro and Shark PowerPro Flex are two of Shark's most popular cordless vacuum platforms. While both offer strong cleaning performance and modern cordless convenience, they target slightly different buyers.

The Detect Pro focuses on smart cleaning technology with automatic dirt detection and suction adjustments. The PowerPro Flex prioritizes flexibility and easier whole-home cleaning thanks to its folding wand design.

If you're comparing Shark's newest cordless lineup, this guide explains which model is the better fit for your home.

Which Shark Cordless Vacuum Should You Buy?

Buy the Detect Pro if you want Shark's smart cleaning technology and automatic performance adjustments.

Buy the PowerPro Flex if convenience is your priority and you frequently clean under beds, couches, and furniture.

For most buyers, Detect Pro offers slightly better overall value, while PowerPro Flex delivers a better user experience for larger homes.

Is Either Model Replaced by PowerDetect?

Not directly.

PowerDetect currently sits above both models in Shark's lineup and represents Shark's newest flagship cordless platform.

Buyers who want Shark's most advanced cordless vacuum should consider the PowerDetect Clean & Empty series. Detect Pro and PowerPro Flex remain excellent options for buyers who want strong performance at lower prices.

The Cleaning mechanics

Shark's famous Multiflex technology, which folds the vacuum when it needs to reach under-the-furniture areas, is only present in the PowerPro Flex. The Detect Pro does not flex.

The brushroll system is different, too:

The new QuadClean roller system combines a soft roller for picking up debris of all sizes with a rubber mix that allows it to penetrate deeper into carpets.

The PowerFins is a previous-gen brushroll system.

Shark IW1111 Detect Pro

Key features:

  • Adjusts suction along the edges, on carpets, and in messy areas.
  • Has more power.
  • Illuminates dust automatically.
  • New brushroll system.

The QuadClean rollers recognize edges, floor type, and debris and auto-illuminate dark areas. It has a display and a new brushroll system.

Smartly adjusts suction on carpets and messy areas. Unlike the PowerPro, the Detect Pro doesn't fold.

The cleaner is ideal for hard floors and surface cleaning

Other than that, it is smart, doesn't cost much, and has a modification with a self-empty station.

Shark PowerPro Flex Pet Plus

Key features:

  • Longer battery life.
  • Multiflex technology.

Unlike the Detect Pro, the PowerPro is not as powerful and doesn't boost suction on messy areas and along the walls.

With MultiFlex, the cleaner gets hard-to-reach places

Ideal for hard floors.

Which one to buy

The Detect Pro has more power and is smarter. It optimizes battery life by adjusting suction where it is needed. However, the vacuum doesn't fold, which might be a bummer if you want to reach under furniture.

Unlike the Detect Pro, the PowerPro Flex is not as smart, yet it boosts suction on carpets, lasts longer, and has Multiflex. Not suitable for deep carpet cleaning, though.
