Shark has two premium smart cordless vacuums in the lineup, the Detect Pro and PowerDetect. Both cleaners support an auto-empty station. What are the differences between the two?

The Cleaning mechanics

Shark's famous Multiflex technology, which folds the vacuum when it needs to reach under-the-furniture areas, is only present in the PowerDetect. The Detect Pro does not flex.

The brushroll system is different, too:

The Shark's DuoClean Detect features a two-roller technology, recognized for achieving the best pick-up score in the industry. One soft roller for hard floors and the second is to get deep into the carpet's dirt. The DuoClean senses direction and catches debris even in reverse. It also adjusts suction on carpet, dirty spots, and along the walls.

The new QuadClean roller system combines a soft roller for picking up debris of all sizes with a rubber mix that allows it to penetrate deeper into carpets.

The display appears to be the same, as well as the weight and the dustbin size.

Shark PowerDetect IP1251

The Shark PowerDetect IP1251 has the same 380 watts of power and 70 minutes of runtime. The cleaner is ideal if you're looking for a smart, cordless device that won't break your budget.

It is compatible with an auto-empty station. The brushroll system senses direction and sucks debris even in reverse, so you don't have to return and push forward again. It also automatically senses edges, dirt, and floor type, adjusting power for better pickup. The cleaner flexes when it needs to reach under the furniture.

The Shark PowerDetect IP1251 is ideal if you are looking a cleaner for carpets and hard floors.

So far, this is the richest-featured cordless vacuum cleaner in the lineup and is also the most powerful.

Shark IW1111 Detect Pro

The QuadClean rollers recognize edges, floor type, and debris and auto-illuminate dark areas. It has a display and a new brushroll system.

The vacuum doesn't flex and is not as powerful as the PowerDetect IP1251.

The cleaner is ideal for hard floors and surface cleaning

Other than that, it is smart, doesn't cost much, and has a modification with a self-empty station.

Which one to buy

Compared to the Detect Pro, the Shark PowerDetect IP1251 has more sensors to adjust suction power to cleaning situations, flexes if needed, has more power, and lasts longer. It is an ideal vacuum cleaner for carpets and hard floors. With about the same price tag, I would recommend going for the PowerDetect.

The Shark IW1111 Detect Pro is not as powerful and doesn't flex, yet it smartly adjusts its suction when needed and has a display. Not the best pick for thick carpets, but it does the job on hard floors and thin carpets, and rugs.
