Shark PowerDetect Lineup Compared

Updated: Nov 25, 2024

The Shark PowerDetect is the newest premium lineup. The model line has Shark's famous DuoClean which is basically two brushrolls, one for deep carpet cleaning and the other one to pick up even the smallest particles on hard floor. The upgraded DuoClean technology is equipped with sensors that identify cleaning tasks adjusting power for better performance.

The PowerDetect lineup does your job automatically.

The PowerDetect lineup lacks a display yet is featured with the new technologies:

  • The newest DuoClean Detect brushroll senses dirt, floor type, edges, and direction adjusting power settings depending on the cleaning task.

DIRECTION DETECT: Shark’s direction Intelli-Sense sensor recognizes which direction you are vacuuming, and automatically directs powerful suction to whatever direction is needed, for maximum cleaning in both forward and reverse

  • Compact storage & Multiflex technology

Multiflex technology folds the vacuum which helps to reach areas under furniture and keeps the vacuum compact so it doesn't take up lots of space when is not being used.

  • Odor Neutralizer keeps odor inside the base.

With the newest cleaning head, the PowerDetect might be the best lineup Shark has ever produced

Upright vacuum

The upright vacuum is corded and the most powerful. Because of that and the large dustbin, it is the heaviest. But most of the weight is located on the bottom so it doesn't tire your hand as much.

The Shark POWERDETECT AZ4002 is the newest in the lineup. The POWERDETECT technology adapts power settings when identifying dirt, floor type, edges, and direction.

The vacuum is powerful, has a large dust cup, stands on its own, and performs amazingly well on carpets.

The POWERDETECT AZ4002 is the best if you need lots of power to vacuum carpets.

Auto-Empty Cordless

The cordless vacuum has enough power to vacuum hard floors and carpets but would not be powerful enough for deep carpet cleaning. You have the mobility of a cordless device but is limited by its battery life and power.

The PowerDetect IP3251 makes the cleaning experience smooth because of the auto-empty station.

No emptying for up to 45 days

It is one of a few cordless cleaners with a self-emptying base on the market so far.

Cordless

It has the same 380 watts of power and 70 minutes of runtime. The cleaner is ideal if you are looking for a smart cordless device that would not break your budget.

It is the one cleaner with no Odor Neutralizer technology. However, a long-lasting battery covers a large area which makes the IP1251 ideal for big homes.

Corded

The corded PowerDetect has more power and works for as long as you need. It is the cheapest and lacks dirt and edge detection which might be a bummer to someone but the cleaner is a great choice for under $200.

The Shark's corded vacuum is a cheaper alternative to the cordless model. It is not as powerful as the upright so is something in between the four. An affordable option for those who need power and smart function in one device.

To sum up

The Shark's PowerDetect lineup looks promising. It is featured with a new cleaning head that identifies the cleaning situation and adjusts settings automatically.

For deep carpet cleaning, take a look at the Shark POWERDETECT AZ4002. It might be a bit more expensive compared to other upright models, however, the AZ4002 has that smart detection others don't.

A new cleaning experience with a self-emptying base gives the Shark PowerDetect IP3251. It is cheaper than the upright model tho has cordless mobility.

The Shark PowerDetect IP1251 is cheaper. It is the same IP3251 without a self-emptying base.

If you don't want to spend more but still want a powerful smart device, consider getting the corded Shark POWERDETECT HZ4002.
