The first thing that comes to mind when choosing a vacuum for hard floor is whether the cleaner has a soft roller. Those are the gold standards for hard floor pickup including picking up from ultra-fine to extra large particles as well as being good with resisting hair tangles.

In terms of their pickup ability there frankly isn't that much of a difference between these 11 vacuums in their hard floor modes.
All 11 have the same basic superior ability to pick up just about anything from a fine to extra large debris.
Power like suction and airflow isn't as much of a factor with soft roller vacuums. For example, compare the Shark Vertex upright vacuum which is one of the most powerful vacuums on the market right now versus the Dyson Micro or Omni Glide which are two of the weakest and there isn't that much of a difference in terms of their performance on hard floors because this type of vacuuming is more about mechanics rather than power.
Versatility
Mostly hard floors with some small rugs aren't a deal-breaker when choosing which one would be best. But those who have lots of carpets should keep in mind that some of these would not be good. The Dyson Micro and OmniGlide do not include a standard brush roll which means theoretically they are able to do surface cleaning but can't actually clean below the surface of the carpet.
The Dyson V15, LG Cordzero, and Samsung vacuums include a separate cleaning head for carpet. Not very useful tho to switch the heads when vacuuming carpets and hard floors.
The Sharks and Loop have a soft roller integrated into the regular carpet roller so you don't have to do anything when transitioning from carpet to hard floors.
The Shark and Loop are ideal if you have lots of rugs or mixed surfaces
Another good point is how good these are at above-floor cleaning. Most stick vacuums have put all the weight into the base which tires an arm in the long term. The shape and weight of their handles make it an awkward experience.
For above-floor cleaning will better be the Shark Vertex Pro and the Loop on the cordless side and the two Shark uprights on the corded side.
Another aspect is the battery life which is not related to corded vacuums yet those are not as convenient to use when you have to deal with cords. On the other hand, the Dyson Omni Glide and Micro last for 20 minutes max on low power which limits their use in bigger homes.
Ease of use
Handle weight and floor head swivel accuracy are important. The first shouldn't put lots of weight on the arm and the second helps to get some hard-to-reach places by minor wrist movements.
Because of being lightweight and having a small size, the Dyson Omni Glide and Micro are the best at this
The Omni Glide ability to clean in every direction makes it very convenient to use. The Shark Vertex Pro cordless has a noticeably smooth swivel with a slightly larger head width.
The Loop and the Shark Vertex corded stick vacuum were ok, but there was a drop-off in swivel quality. It takes more forearm effort to move those two. The upright vacuums design also put some limitations when reaching some areas tho it can be used as a stick vacuum in its powered lift-away mode. And you can't do that with the Rotator though it does have the standard lift-away mode just not powered lift-away.
The Shark Vertex upright is probably overkilling for most hard floors because of its overall weight. As was said it's one of the most powerful vacuums out there. But since you don't need much power for soft rollers to clean hard floors you're getting all that added weight from its larger motor and definitely the higher price.
Filtration
Filtration is an overlooked but really important quality with vacuums and most vacuums under a certain price range are not very good at it. But all the vacuums in this list with the exception of the Shark Vertex Ultralight Corded are high-efficiency filtration systems that are sealed to some extent which is really good.
Price and Summary
Taking to account the price, some of these are really expensive, like the Dyson V15, LG, Samsung, Loops which plays a role in final picks.
The Dyson Omni Glide is one of the best vacuums for hard floors in 2022 but only if you don't have carpets. Its ability to move back and forth is a time saver. However, a small dustbin, battery life, and not being able to clean carpets makes it an option for some people. Not for everyone.
The second would be the Shark Rotator ADV upright corded vacuum. It is cheaper than the other corded upright on this list. And if you want the versatility and dependability of a standard upright corded vacuum that's as good as it gets for hard floor pickup with very few limitations then this is the sweet spot of value.
Shark Rotator Lift-Away ADV
One of the cheapest yet efficient for hard floors
Great pick up ability
$312.0 on AmazonThe best vacuum for hard floors is the Shark Vertex Pro cordless vacuum. Number one is the Shark Vertex Pro cordless vacuum. It gives you the freedom of cordless. The upright style makes it less tiring on the arm for larger jobs it has better battery efficiency and more power than the average cordless vacuum. Its swivel and pickup ability are very intuitive it's able to be used in three different configurations making it one of the more versatile vacuums on the list. It's got some advanced features you don't see on other Shark cordless vacuums and though it's not the cheapest of these 11 it's pretty close.
