The Rotator LA502 and Detect LA492 have a different brushroll system, dustbin size, and smart features.

Shark Detect

The LA492 has odor-neutralizer technology and better roller technology. It has more power but has a smaller dustbin and is heavier than the Rotator.

Editor's recomendation

The Shark Detect is a great value with lots of power and smart features.

Shark Rotator

The Shark LA502 Rotator is a much better modification than the classic Rotator with its old-style brushroll that has to be cleaned after every cleaning. It has a dual brushroll system and less weight.

Good if on sale

Unlike the Shark Detect, this one doesn't adjust suction automatically and has less power.

Summing up

The Shark Detect LA492 is a better buy in every way.
