Dyson Air Purifier TP04 vs. TP07 vs. HP04 vs. BP01 Comparison Chart

Updated: Nov 19, 2024

Dyson has been producing air purifiers for many years creating bladeless devices that are safe for everyone. There are four series: TP, DP, BP, and HP, and each has some modifications. Let's talk about each of them.

Design

There are four models: HP, BP, and TP. All models are purifiers and also can be a fan. The HP models are slightly bigger than the compact series but not as big as the TP series. The BP model is the smallest and most compact.

The HP purifiers create both hot and cold air and also purifying.

It includes the Dyson HP01, HP02, and HP04. These purifiers are not only purifying the air but also have heating and cooling capabilities. The main difference between the HP models would be app compatibility, screen, Auto mode, and oscillation.

The Dyson Pure Hot + Cool HP04 has a HEPA and Carbon filters. It removes allergens, odors and gasses

Dyson also has the newest Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Cryptomic (HP06) that is not available to buy on Amazon yet but you can order it directly from the official website. UPD: seems like the Dyson HP06 is not available to buy anymore. Instead, there are two new models, the Dyson HP07 and HP09.

Compared to the Dyson HP04, the HP07 has a fully sealed whole-machine filtration and is HEPA-H13 certified. Another difference is that the HP04 has two separate filters (carbon and HEPA), while the HP07's filters are one unit.

The newest Dyson HP09 is very similar to the HP07 but it has an upgraded filter that captures and destroys formaldehyde and shows it on the improved display. Both models are not widely available yet.

The Dyson HP Series can do purifying, cooling and heating the air

The TP series only colling the air and have a tall tower design. It includes the Dyson Pure Cool TP01, TP02TP04, and TP07. The difference between the models is oscillation, filtration, app connection, Alexa control, auto mode, backward mode, real-time air quality, and max airflow the purifier delivers.

There is also the newest Dyson TP09 that is not widely available. It eliminates formaldehyde particles via an upgraded filter.

Dyson TP09 vs. HP09

The two has different design with the TP09 being taller. Both have the same filtration system but the TP09 only purifies and cools the air while the HP09 additionally heats the room.

The same as the HP Series, the TP has a newer model, the Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde TP09. The difference between the TP09 Cryptomic and TP04 Pure Cool is the same as with the HP Series, the TP06 destroys formaldehyde, not only captures it making filtration even better for those who are allergy-sensitive.

The Dyson TP Series is ideal for large rooms

The BP is the most budget-friendly and also has a compact design similar to the Dyson DP. It only includes one model, the Dyson BP01, and is designed for small spaces.

Filtration and airflow

All Dyson purifiers use similar filtration technology. All of them have a HEPA filter; the newer models have an activated carbon filter in addition to the HEPA filter. The filters capture up to 98% of small particles and allergens in the air. The carbon filter removes odors and VOCs. More airflow allows the purifier to handle a bigger area faster.

The best airflow purifiers would be:

  • TP02 = 410 liters/sec
  • TP01 = 434 liters/sec

For smaller spaces the best would be:

  • TP04 = 361 liters/sec
  • HP04 = 310 liters/sec
  • HP02 = 200 liters/sec
  • BP01 = 257 liters/sec

Keep in mind, the Dyson purifiers that are better for smaller rooms can also be suitable in bigger rooms. Those that have better airflow cover a big area faster than the others.

One of the latest purifiers has both HEPA and carbon filters and can remove odors and VOCs. These would be TP04 and HP04.

Advanced filtration technology helps to capture even the smallest particles and is safe for allergy sufferers

Glass HEPA filter captures 99.95% of harmful ultrafine particles

Advanced carbon filter removes odors and gases

Activated Carbon filter captures gases such as formaldehyde, benzene, and nitrogen dioxide

All Dyson purifiers purify and also cool the air. Only the HP02 & HP04 do heating and cooling. Also, each of them has HEPA and is safe for people with allergies, can be controlled by remote control, and also has a bladeless design.

All models have the Dyson link app. Only the Dyson BP01 is not compatible with the app.

Depending on how often you use the purifier, you will have to replace the filter once in a while. Dyson does not mention how often you should replace the filters; however, based on other reviews, we would recommend replacing them once in 12-18 months, depending on the size of your home and usage.
