The difference between the self-emptying Shark cleaners is power, roller technology, and the self-emptying station.

The Shark's roller system is known for its best pick-up rate on carpets and hard floors and for getting deep into carpets if the cleaner is powerful enough.

The Auto-Empty Station

Automatically empties and charges the vacuum while docked, so it’s always ready for the next clean. No more manual emptying after every clean. With an anti-allergen complete seal, dust stays inside leaving it out of the air you breathe.

Best Shark with Auto-Empty System

The PowerDetect series is the Shark's premium series, the richest in features vacuums.

The PowerDetect technology is a tandem of a DuoClean Detect roller system and sensors that adjust suction when detecting dirt, carpet, and edges. The vacuum captures debris even in reverse while the others lose suction when changing direction.

It is the most expensive and powerful cleaner in the lineup and is suitable for deep carpet cleaning.

Multiflex folds the vacuum to get hard-to-reach areas and only the PowerDetect has this feature.

The Shark PowerDetect is the lighest cordless vacuum in the lineup

The Shark PowerDetect IP3251 is the best cordless vacuum with an auto-empty system, powerful enough for deep carpet cleaning, and doesn't tire your hand in the long run.

Best mid-rate

The Detect Pro technology is the second most-featured series in the lineup.

The cleaner has it all but unlike the PowerDetect has one roller (the new technology), doesn't fold, and is not as powerful.

It lights up the cleaning areas automatically and has a long-lasting battery. A different type of brushroll system catches debris of all sizes on carpets and hard floors.

Ideal for carpet surface cleaning but lacks some premium features of the PowerDetect.

Also good

The BU3523 doesn't have much power so I would recommend it for hard floor cleaning. It also comes with a motorized tool to vacuum couches, chairs, etc.

The cleaner adjusts suction on carpets and has PowerFins, the previous-gen technology.

The difference between it and the BU3521 is the accessory set.

Which one to get?

Editor's choice: Shark PowerDetect IP3251

Powerful, smart, and suitable for deep carpet cleaning. The best cordless vacuum cleaner so far.

The Shark IW3511 Detect Pro is a great buy if you don't need carpet cleaning. It agitates and catches debris but is not as powerful as the PowerDetect.

The Shark Clean BU3523 is a vacuum for hard floors. However, for the same price, I would recommend getting the Detect Pro instead.

The WS642AE Wandvac is the cheapest of all. It doesn't have smart features and the station has a small dust container.
