It has a good build quality and the purifier itself is one of the best-performing units on the market. It has scored as a top recommendation for 2021.

Purification tests

First up, take a look at Mod's performance on air purification tests. Taking a baseline measurement in a medium-sized room. After one hour of running the purifier on the highest settings, the numbers were compared to the baseline.

Oransi Mode Baseline After 1 hour
PM2.5 2.8 0.1
PM10 4.5 0.1
Particulates 536 22
AQI 11 1

Measurements include the number of particulates that are 2.5 microns or smaller listed as PM2.5 as well as particulates. Those are 10 microns or smaller PM10 our measurements also include the total number of particulates in the air as well as the air quality index.

On tests, the Oransi Mod was able to reduce PM2.5 and PM10 to 0.1. Total particulates were reduced to 22 and AQI was improved to 1. Over the one-hour test, Oransi Mod removed 95.9 of all particulates, and PM2.5 was improved by 96.4%.

Design

The Oransi Mod has a sleek design with a large cylindrical body. It has a control panel and a handle on top of the unit. The control panel is a glass display with an LED screen. The screen allows turning on and off, adjusting fan speed and it also gives filter status notifications.

The Oransi Mod is larger than most air purifiers however, the larger size gives it a larger coverage area.

The Oransi Mod is 14-inch in diameter and 25-inch tall, it weighs 23 pounds. The Oransi Mod can purify areas up to 1,250 square feet with two air changes per hour. This is one of the largest coverage areas of any air purifier on the market.

Features

Specs Oransi Mod
Filtration HEPA(Merv-17) + Carbon

Auto mode no
WiFi no
Smartphone app no

The Oransi Mod does not have remote control and it cannot connect to a smartphone app. It can only be controlled by manually using the controlled display.

One other feature absent on the Oransi Mod is an auto mode. Some air purifiers have a sensor built in that detects air quality and the purifier can be set to auto mode to adjust fan speeds according to particulate levels.

Filters

The Oransi Mod uses a medical-grade HEPA air purifier with a Merv-17 rating. This means it can capture up to 99.97% of particulates as small as 0.3 microns trapping bacteria and other particulates in the air. In addition, the more advanced Merv-17 rated filter means it is capable of removing 99.4% of particulates as small as 0.2 microns.

Oransi Mod includes three filter parts:

  1. Pre-filter
  2. HEPA
  3. Carbon filter

The pre-filter and HEPA filter catch allergens and other small particles while the carbon filter removes odors.

The Oransi Mod does not include any additional accessories apart from the main unit and the filter.

Usability

The outer shell can be lifted off the base to access the filter and there is a locking mechanism to keep the unit secure. There is also a convenient carrying handle on top of the unit. So it can be carried from round to room.

Maintenance

The HEPA filter will need to be replaced periodically, according to the manufacturer the filter can be expected to last 6 to 12 months if used constantly. Additionally, users will need to occasionally wipe the air vents clean with the dry cloth as needed to make sure air can freely flow through the unit.

Summary

So is the Oransi Mod a good value?

Pros Cons
  • large coverage
  • excellent test performance
  • stylish design
  • no wifi
  • no smartphone app

Oransi Mod has a large coverage area, a stylish design, and one of the best performances in the industry.

Downsides are the lack of wi-fi connectivity and smartphone control. In addition, it does not include an auto mode feature that would allow it to detect air quality and adjust fan speed automatically.

Despite the lack of these convenience features, the Oransi Mod is an incredible air purifier the performance speaks for itself as does the build quality.

It's a great choice for large rooms open concept floor plans offices and even entire homes. Only seen 6 air purifiers achieve a PM2.5 of 0.1 to date. And two of those include the Oransi Mod and Oransi EJ120.

It doesn't have a remote control or connects to an app but the intuitive touch screen panel makes controlling the unit easy. For most users, it can simply be set to a low to medium setting and then ignored while it works in the background.
