The main difference between the fenix 6X, the 6, and 6S would be size, weight, and battery life.

The Garmin fenix 6S vs. 6 vs. 6X Pro:

Each model has modifications such as Standart that are missing WiFi capability, music storage, and preloaded maps, the Pro version that has these things, and Sapphire & Special Editions have the same specifications as the Pro but tend to be more durable and sometimes lightweight.

Garmin fenix Standard vs. Pro vs. Sapphire vs. Special Edition:

The Sapphire and Special Editions are more durable

Size & Weight & Battery life

The smartwatch dimensions are important because you want it to sit comfortably on your wrist and don't really feel it when wearing. The fenix 6S is the best for those who have a thin wrist while the 6X is ideal for a bigger wrist. With the size, the 6S is also the most lightweight (58 g) going all the way up to 93 g for the heaviest modification, the fenix 6X.

If you have a thin wrist, go with the smallest fenix 6S

The titanium modifications are a bit lighter. The 6S is noticeably heavier compared to other watches from Garmin such as Forerunners, the instinct, or even the Vivoative 3.

The 6S is the smallest but also has some trade-offs like a smaller display (1.2 inches) and shorter battery life (up to 9 days). As the size goes up, the battery lasts longer and the screen gets bigger. Up to 21 days for the 6X. The 6X Solar gives you an additional 3 days of battery life.

The fenix 6S has 8 modifications

The difference between the modifications is about colors, glass protection, lens material, and features. The Standard fenix 6s costs $429.99 (available in white and silver colors), the Pro option is $339.99 (rose-gold and black modifications), and the 6S sapphire will cost you about $507.49 (rose-gold and carbon gray). If you want special editions of the sapphire it will go up to $534.49 (rose-gold and light-gold color options).

The fenix 6S (as well as the fenix 6) lack:

  • Internal music storage, you will not be able to have music on your watch. With this version, you can control the music on your phone but it will not be preloaded on the watch itself;
  • Preloaded maps such as topography maps, golfing or skiing, etc;
  • Wi-fi;
  • The heat maps for the trend routing which show popular areas for activities to be performed;
  • Access to a trip course creator, no hiking trails or running trails, etc.

The Pro version offers all of these features above.

The Sapphire version is scratch-resistant so there are no worries about getting a screen protector. The bezel is made of diamond-like carbon. Now you get a strong, well-built watch that will not have scratches.

Moving on to the Special Edition models. These watches are mostly for style and cost $100 more than the sapphire. With that modification, you can get suede or nylon bands. Also, there are different color options. Not really too much of a difference between these models, it all depends on your budget and design preference.

The fenix 6

There are 6 modifications of the fenix 6. The Standard version is available in silver, the Pro is black and the special edition can be carbon gray with a black band, black DLC with a red nylon band (Sapphire), Sapphire - Titanium with ember orange band, and the most durable Sapphire - Titanium with a vented titanium bracelet.

It is similar to the 6S with the same price range for a standard model ($230.67), the Pro version ($599.99), the sapphire ($369.99), and some special edition models that can jump up to $549.99.

The Standard version lacks the same features the 6S does.

The Pro version has all the missing things such as Wi-Fi, music storage, etc.

The Sapphire version has a sapphire lens and a diamond-like bezel.

The Special Edition versions have sapphire crystal lenses and also there are titanium versions. The Sapphire 6 weight is 83 grams, while the Titanium modification that costs $549.99 is only 72 grams. For an extra $100 you have a smartwatch that loses about 11 grams of weight which is cool if you used to wear standard watches. The bands for these models are nylon and leather titanium.

The special versions look different and you can also get some savings in weight if decide to get the titanium modification.

fenix 6X Pro

This is the largest among all of them having a 51-millimeter body. With this model, there are 5 different styles available: no standard version, but it does have a 6X Pro (black), 6X Sapphire (carbon gray & black with a leather band), and 6X Solar models (titanium carbon gray and titanium with vented titanium bracelet).

All of the 6X models have maps, Wi-Fi, etc. The Pro version will cost about $419.99, the Sapphire anywhere from $369.99 to $699.0, and the special model (Solar) price jumps up to $489.0. The last model has a solar panel built-in into the perimeter of the display. This option can charge the battery on the go and gives your watch some extra battery life.

The Pro version has all the features, costs $419.99, and weighs 93 grams. This option does not miss a thing in terms of features compared to the Sapphire.

The Sapphire option has a sapphire lens and a diamond-like carbon bezel. It is extra strong. This model has two modifications. The expensive one ($369.99) has the silicon band but if you wish you can switch it to leather bands which looks pretty cool.

The Pro Solar version has different kinds of lenses. It is made of power glass, it is similar to a standard Corning Gorilla Glass but not going to be scratch-resistant.

There are also two models available: both of them are fully titanium which means you get a watch with 11 grams of weight savings (82 grams). One style is diamond-like carbon (DCL) and the other type is just titanium. The case for both of them is made of titanium. The band can be either silicone or titanium.

But currently the 6x solar is the only fenix 6 with a solar panel built into the display. And you do get some extra battery life there. It depends on how much Sun the watch face gets though.

To conclude

The Garmin fenix 6S, 6, and 6X have different sizes, about the same modifications and therefore the 6S version is the smallest and most lightweight while the 6X is heavier and has the biggest display. The same goes for battery life. If your wrist is average size and you don't want to miss battery life, go with the 6 or 6X but these models will probably be big for thinner wrists.

Last but not least, in case the design is important to you, consider getting Sapphire or Titanium editions. Also, some of these modifications have different straps so the final point goes to your preferences and the design of your ideal Garmin.

There is all about the comparison between all the different fenix 6 models. Hopefully, this helps you when you`re trying to decide which fenix 6 is for you.
