Design and appearance
The Design of the V15 Detect hasn't changed. It still has the same dustbin design and filtration system as the previous models such as a Dyson V11 Torque Drive. Some of the newest technologies are implemented tho so let's talk about those. The brushroll has a new anti-tangle design which makes the vacuum ideal for long hair even tho the previous V11 is already one of the best on the market in this area.
New battery design
The battery is swappable which gives you flex on battery life. By getting a second battery, you can double the cleaning time. One battery gives you up to 60 minutes of cleaning time on the lowest suction settings. Keep in mind, the med and max mode drains battery life much quicker.
Upgraded soft roller with particles detect
One of the improvements in the V15 Detect is the new soft roller. The soft roller is designed for cleaning hard floors. It handles even the smallest particles and is quieter than the standard brushroll.
The new brushroll has a laser that detects particles a human eye can not see. The laser is green and can be turned off if not needed.
This is absolutely new in the vacuum cleaners world.

The V15 Detect has a LED display that shows current cleaning mode, estimated battery life, gives maintenance alerts and what is new is displays how many particles have been sucked up in real-time. This is a new feature to the industry too.

The Dyson V15 Detect has a sealed filtration system with a HEPA filter so it's safe for anyone. It also has anti-tangle technology that makes the vacuum even better for pet owners and those who have long hair. The cleaner includes extra cleaning tools for other surfaces.
Testing
So how well it does with hard floor and carpet pickup with the standard head.
It has an adjustable gate on the front which typically keeps it all the way open for maximum versatility it did amazingly well with the debris of all shapes and sizes.
Dyson's torque head design which showed up on the V10 series is a really good design. You really don't need to change it out when moving from hard floors to carpet.
Because it strikes a better balance than just about any other head out there it did excellent with the deep clean test where was embed sand into the carpet and weigh the bin before and after it scored a perfect 100. Which is common with premium vacuums like these Dysons but not common with budget vacuums.
If you have mostly hard floors in your house you are in luck with the V15 Detect because of that fluffy roller.
Which has been redesigned from previous versions it's a bit smaller diameter and from what can tell it handles better than the older version too. And in the test, it did amazing picking up debris from small to extra large, which is something that traditional floor heads just don't do well with at all especially with hard floors.
What is the Dyson V15 Detect the best for?
The previous Dyson V11 is already a powerful vacuum cleaner so the V15 brings all the best from its predecessor making things even better. It has stronger suction, a better soft roller, and informs you on particles it was able to remove. The smart become smarter and the Dyson V15 Detect is a great example of good performance on par with intelligent features.
