Power

Before the Outsize was released, the Dyson V11 had been the strongest among cordless cleaners. The newest Dyson is about 20% more powerful than the standard V11. The Outsize also has four more cyclones that keep the filter clean longer.

Both models have 3 cleaning modes.

How powerful the Dyson V11 Outsize vs. V11 Torque Drive (head)

Power / Model V11 Outsize V11 Torque Drive
Suction 112" 101"
High 58 cfm 49 cfm
Med 32 cfm 28 cfm
Low 26 cfm 23 cfm

Is the Dyson V11 suitable for big homes?

Another great thing about the Dyson cordless vacuums is the battery life. The standard model is one of the longest-lasting and battery-efficient cordless vacuums on the market. Because of the swappable batteries, the V11 Outsize gives the whole 120 minutes of routine which is mindblowing. The Outsize doesn't have competitors in this area too.

That being said having the battery be removable and getting an extra battery in the box is a big massive point in the v11 Outsize.

Battery life / Model V11 Outsize V11 Torque Drive
High (min) 14 8
Med (min) 80 43
Low (min) 120 66

As you can see, the Outsize lasts longer on every power setting.

Battery

The V11 has a built-in battery that lasts up to 70 minutes depending on the cleaning tool you are using. The V11 Outsize has two batteries that are detachable and with this option, you get longer cleaning time.

Auto mode

One thing all the v11 versions have in common is the new auto mode. Basically there's a sensor in the cleaner head that can tell if you're vacuuming hard floors or carpets. And it automatically boosts the suction if it senses carpet and brings that suction back down to medium power if it senses hard floors.

Size: cleaning heads & dirtbin

The cleaning heads have the same three-level adjustable gates that help it to pick up even the largest debris on both surfaces. Another thing is the 25% wider cleaning head. It feels like getting things done is faster with the newest Dyson. The downside of the cleaning head is that is it slightly less maneuverable in tight spaces.

The newest Dyson also has the biggest dustbin in the industry. Compared to the old model (760 ml), the newest Dyson holds up to 1,890 ml of debris. Because of having a larger dustbin, the main machine of the Dyson V11 Outsize is heavier and can be tiring on the arm.

Deep Carpet Clean test

The Dyson V11, as well as the V10, are able to clean carpets. Because of the Outsize being even more powerful, it does a better job on high-pile carpets. However, during the deep carpet clean test, both V11 got a perfect 100% score picking up embedded sand into a medium-pile carpet.

After 8 back-and-forth passes there wasn't much of a difference between the two.

Pickup test

On the crevice pick up test there wasn't much of a difference as well. Both were equal and did a great job when clearing that eight-inch and quarter-inch crevices of debris in one single forward pass.

With the pickup test on different surfaces, there wasn't much of a difference between the two as well. Well above average but not something you would notice using them in real life.

Filtration

Both have a nearly perfect HEPA sealed filtration system which does not leak meaning is it safe for anyone.

The main differences: Dyson V11 Torque Drive vs. Outsize

There not much of a difference between the cleaners. Srtonger suction, a wider cleaning head, longer runtime, etc.

The Dyson V11 Outsize is designed for really big houses with its battery life, stronger suction and the big dustbin

The display

The LCD screen shows current cleaning mode, estimated battery life, maintaining alerts. It adapts battery number depending on what power setting you are on, which attachment you using and also on the surface.

The Dyson v11 Animal which is the cheapest v11 and has an LED screen. This thing does the same job showing battery level (with no countdown timer tho), cleaning models, and maintenance alerts.

To conclude

The Dyson V11 Outsize is an extra worthy upgrade over the V11 Torque Drive with the extra power and a wider cleaning head. But it's noticeable that this is heavier. If you live in a big house, the Dyson V11 Outsize is a great cordless vacuum for large spaces.

If you don't want a heavy vacuum, consider getting the Dyson V11 Torque Drive.

And if you don't mind the more basic display, the Dyson V11 Animal is a great solution too.
