Testing out the brand-new Dyson Corral. This is their first cordless straightener and we want to compare it with the GHD Platinum Plus which has a cord.

This Platinum Plus retails for $250 and the Dyson has a $500 price tag.

The first thing you notice is that the Dyson is cordless while the GHD has a long cord and does not need to be charged before using it.

How the GHD Platinum Plus works

The GHD Platinum Plus only has one heat setting and one button.

As you turn it on you going to wait for it to warm up. As it is warmed up, it gives you a sound so you know it's ready to go. It heats up to 365 degrees and this is the only heat setting that can be used.

Testing

To get the best result you might need more than one pass, depending on the thickness of your hair.

Hair feels soft after using the GHD Platinum Plus.

The Dyson Corrale dies after 20 minutes of using which is not enough to do your hair especially if you have long hair.

To use the Dyson with a cord, you have to charge it first. It takes about 70 minutes to fully charge the Dyson.

Once it's plugged, it works just fine. Even after 50 minutes of use, it still has 50% of charge.

Comparing the results of the two, you might notice that hair done with the Dyson looks more staticky. The GHD side is more smooth and straight.

Also with the Dyson, it took up to 50 minutes to do the hair while the GHD did the same in 22 minutes.

About Dyson Corrale

The Dyson has three different heat settings compared to the GHD which has one. Once you charge the tool and plug it, it works for a much longer time.

But to use it as a cordless option you have to be ready for it to die before finishing the job.

Pros

  • 3 different heat settings

Cons

  • the battery runs out quickly

Conclusion

The Dyson has room for improvements. Its battery is short but it can be used as a corded option if you charge it first.

Compared to the GHD, Dyson takes longer to get the job done. Also, your hair might not feel and look as smooth but it only depends on your hair type.
