Dyson's cordless cleaners start with the most lightweight vacuum that has a shorter lifetime and ends up as the best cleaner on the market with smart features and lots of power for a cordless device.

Starting with the affordable Dyson V8 and Digital Slim to slowly getting the most expensive premium models.

Dyson V8

The Dyson V8 is the cheapest classic model that has enough power for surface carpet cleaning yet not enough for deep cleaning. It doesn't include a soft roller so is not the best for hard floors.

The vacuum doesn't have smart features or a display. No auto mode that adjusts suction on carpet.

The Dyson V8 is a basic model that does the job if you don't need extra power for deep carpet clean.

Dyson Digital Slim

The Digital Slim is similar to the Dyson V8. The Dyson V8 has two cleaning modes; the Digital Slim has three.

It has a screen and auto mode, which the Dyson V8 lacks.

A cheaper alternative to a premium Dyson

Dyson V11 Origin

The Dyson V11 Origin lacks a carpet identification function and has a different cleaning head, that's why it is cheaper than the Dyson V11 Animal

The Dyson V11 Origin has a built-in display and more power. It lacks some smart features, however, the vacuum is one of the best values on the market.

Automatically boosts suction on carpets

The Dyson V11 Origin lacks the soft roller so it might not be as efficient on hard floors.

Dyson Outsize Origin

The Dyson Outsize is another V11 modification with a lot more power, a large dustbin, two batteries, and a wider cleaning head. The vacuum comes with one battery instead of two.

If you need a big vacuum for a large house, have a look at the Dyson Gen5outsize.

The Dyson Outsize has detachable batteries so you can swipe one with another if needed. Because of the bigger cleaning head, the vacuum is bigger and heavier than other models in the lineup. The wider cleaning head gets the deeds done faster.

The cleaner for large houses

The Dyson Outsize Origin is a big cleaner for a large cleaning area with suction adjust on carpet so you don't have to switch modes.

Dyson V15 Detect

The Dyson V15 Detect comes with lots of attachments including a roller brush that wasn't an option for the previous models in this list. Unlike the Dyson V11 which boosts suction on carpet, the Dyson V15 increases power in dusty areas. A roller brush has LED lights that help to track dust and debris.

It is a powerful vacuum for deep carpet cleaning and hard floors since it comes with a soft roller and dust illumination. The display has a lot more features and useful statistics compared to the previous generations.

Overall, the Dyson V15 puts lots of value on the price considering its features and an attachment set.

Dyson Gen5detect

The Dyson Gen5detect has all the great things we love in the Dyson V15 Detect, and, in addition, more power, a continuous power lock, and a bigger battery thanks to which the cleaner is heavier.

The Dyson's best cleaners compared (V15 & Gen5detect)

The cleaner is the first to have a power lock for continuous cleaning. The Gen5 series is the most powerful, rich-featured vacuum cleaner for big homes with all types of floors.

The Dyson Gen5detect is the editor's choice

Which Dyson to get

For a small house with low-pile carpets, either the Dyson V8 or Dyson Digital Slim would work just fine. Don't expect lots of power or deep carpet cleaning but for everyday cleaning, these two are great.

A big house needs a big machine so the Dyson Outsize Origin fits perfectly.

The Dyson V11 Origin is a powerful machine that lacks some smart features and a soft roller for hard floors. So the cleaner is amazing for homes with thick carpets and some hard floor areas if you don't require automatization the latest models have.

The best of the best, for whatever flooring you have, consider getting the Dyson V15 Detect or Dyson Gen5detect. Both are great with lots of power and smart suction adjust. The Gen5detect is a premium machine with some improvements over the V15 Detect, however, the Dyson V15 Detect is a great value considering the price.
