The Rotator LA702 is an upgraded modification of the LA502.

Both vacuums use a Dual roller system PowerFins known for its best pickup abilities on both surfaces. The PowerFins is used on the Shark's premium lineup.
The PowerFins HairPro does a better job at resisting hair tangles and is a newer Shark's technology.

The LA502 is a good buy when it's on sale or much cheaper than the LA702 since it lacks power and new technologies.

The Shark LA502 Rotator is a much better modification than the classic Rotator with its old-style brushroll that has to be cleaned after every cleaning.
The only thing the LA502 is better than the LA702 is the duct cup capacity.
The LA502 Rotator is a great upright, much better than the old version but when compared to the next-gen LA702 which has about the same price, we have no doubts which one is a better pick.
