Dyson V11 Torque Drive vs. Dyson V10 Absolute Comparisons & Tests
The comparison is made by Vacuum Wars
One of the most apparent differences between the two is a display. By using the button, you can toggle between low, medium, and high power, as well as auto mode. It shows estimated battery life, which changes depending on mode and attachments you are using. It also lets you know when to change the filter, etc.
The Dyson V11 is equipped with a Torque Drive head which has a sensor that knows you are vacuuming carpet or hard floor and it'll boost the suction on carpet for a better deep clean. This feature optimizes battery life, so you don't have switch manually between cleaning modes when transforming from bare flooring to carpet.
Suction Power Measurment
The Dyson V11 has 111" of water lift compared to the Dyson V10 which has 84".
Suction / Model Line | Dyson V10 Absolute | Dyson V11 Torque Drive |
---|---|---|
Water lift | 84" | 111" |
Wand (low power) | 18 cfm | 30 cfm |
Wand (med power) | 24 cfm | 36 cfm |
Wand (high power) | 41 cfm | 59 cfm |
Head (low power) | 15 cfm | 23 cfm |
Head (med power) | 21 cfm | 28 cfm |
Head (high power) | 33 cfm | 49 cfm |
After measurements, it was obvious that on average, the Dyson V11 is 32% more powerful than the Dyson V10.
Deep Cleanin Test Results on Medium-Pile Carpet (sand)
Deep Clean Test Results | Dyson V10 | Dyson V11 |
High | 99% | 101% |
Medium | 89% | 98% |
Low | 82% | 91% |
On average, the Dyson V11 picked up sand about 7% more than the Dyson V10. The Dyson V11 gives more suction even on medium power settings, which would be the best mode if you clean the entire house.
On low power, the V10 took twice as long as the V11 to pick up all the debris during crevice pickup test. However, they both took one path to get all the debris on high power.
Battery Life
Model | Dyson V10 | Dyson V11 |
---|---|---|
Suction Tool (low/med/high) | 5/30/61 min | 9/39/74 |
Fuffy Head (low/power/high) | 9/28/56 min | 14/40/81 |
Torque-Drive Head (low/power/high) | 6/26/46 min | 8/43/66 |
Charging | 3.5 h | 4.5 h |
The Dyson V11 lasts up to 30% more than the Dyson V10 which means the battery life is no longer a barrier that keeps you from switching from corded vacuum to a cordless one even if you live in a big house. With a longer-lasting battery, the Dyson V11 also got longer charging time. It takes one hour more to juice up the battery than the previous model. Also, the weight increased from 5.8 lbs to 6.7 lbs.
In terms of cleaning, the new Torque Head is identical from the V10 to V11 except for the Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) system that makes a difference on carpets.
Conclusion
The Dyson V11 has extra power, which makes it better at deep cleaning tasks; its battery life jumped up to 30%, which is almost impossible considering that the Dyson V10 already had a long-lasting one. The new display and floor detection system seem to be beneficial in practice.
