Lenovo Chromebook C330 vs. Lenovo Chromebook S330 Comparison Chart

Lenovo Chromebook C330 and S330 are similar devices with almost the same features and specifications and about the same price point so it can be a bit difficult to decide which one to buy. Let's have a look at each and see what differences they have.

Lenovo Chromebook C330

The Lenovo C330 is more like a large tablet, you can carry it around. It has a touchscreen and running Chrome OS. It has a laptop version that lacks the wraparound screen but has the same specifications. 

It`s nice and bright and very crisp with very good viewing angles. You also get some touch functionality with it too. And Chrome OS has been getting friendlier and friendlier for touch input as they continue developing it. It has a nice display for the price point. Not heavy as well. 

8-10 hours of battery life depending on what you are doing with it. 10 hours if you are doing basic web browsing and email with the brightness turned down. 

The USB type-c port will charge the laptop but will also allow for data and video. It is able to do 4k with a display port adapter, but only at 30 frames per second. The device also can output a second display via the laptop's internal display. You can get an adapter for the USB type-c if you need more. To get more storage, go with the 64 GB version. 

For the tablet mode, you can use your handwriting or a finger. When browsing, you might notice the display jumps a bit but this thing relates to most lower-cost laptops. You will also have a little bit of display bounce here when you`re in either laptop or tablet mode. But things load pretty quickly. 

The browser bench org speedometer test scores 47.5, which lines up exactly with the Chromebook R-13. The Acer Chromebook 11 has an Intel chip at costs about the same but does not do as well. 

For a Chromebook, this MediaTek chip is actually not bad for an entry-level device and outperforms the entry-level Intel chip. It supports Google Play Store where you can install any app you need and also if you have some installed on your phone, you can run them on the laptop as well. Many casual games are available to install too. 

The C330 supports Linux but it can be a bit slow so you might want to use it sparingly with Chrome OS. 

The Lenovo C330 is a good device for lights tasks like browsing and everyday use. It can be used as a tablet as well, a little clunky but still usable tho. 

Lenovo Chromebook s330

The 1366 x 768 TN display means it does not have the best viewing angles and you`ll lose some color definition when you go off-center.

There is also a 1080 display that costs about $100 more. If screen quality matters to you, go with that version. The MediaTek MT8173C processor inside is fairly low-power consuming compared to the devices running with Intel chips. Also, it gives you more battery life.

If you getting a Chromebook for some light stuff like browsing, it will be a good budget choice. You can install Android apps and some Linux apps as well. 

The trackpad is nice for a $200 Chromebook. The device is all plastic but has a rubberized coat on top of the keyboard deck that gives a bit of s premium feel. It does not fold all way around but the display goes flat if needed. 

The USB type-c port is for charging but also can be used as a full-service USB C port. There is also an HDMI port and a USB 3 port. The laptop is fanless. The speakers are not the best but allow watching Youtube, etc. You can use Bluetooth headphones because the S330 has Bluetooth onboard. 

The laptop scores 45.2 and it is the same as other Chromebooks tunning with the same processor. You get about 10 hours of battery life by doing some basic stuff like web browsing.

Many Android apps that work quite well on the Chrome OS platform and this is a great thing about Chromebooks. It also supports Linux. Linux is slightly buggy here tho but not really that bad, hopefully, will be fixed in the future.

The Lenovo S330 is a nice little Chromebook for the money and those who plan on doing some web browsing everyday work. 

Which one to buy

If you need a small laptop to carry around that can convert into a tablet, has a bright and crisp display and also has a touchscreen, go with the Lenovo C330.

If you want a big laptop to work with every day that has a bigger screen and better resolution, get the Lenovo S330.
