The Lenovo C330 and 300E are middle-price range chromebooks released in 2018. Both models equipped with an energy efficient Quad-core 2.1GHz ARM processor MediaTek 8173C, 11.6" IPS touch screen, 64GB and 32GB eMMC SSD respectively, and 4GB LPDDR3 RAM.

Both devices have very similar specifications and were designed special for education, so it would be a great choice for students.

Lenovo 300e

The 300e itself is part of a series that Lenovo recently came out with targeted for education that is the 100e, the 300e, and the 500e. The 100e does not have a touchscreen and kind of the base model, the 300e is a mid-level model, which has a touchscreen, the 500e has more features and is equipped with a stylus.

The 300e is military-grade tested and it is drop-proof up to 29.5 inches (confirmed by Lenovo). The laptop is perfect for education. It also has a sealed keyboard which means that if anything gets spilled on the keyboard itself it`s not going to go down onto the motherboard and destroy the Chromebook.

The laptop has a type-C port, a USB 3.0, and a micro SD card slot. If you have a keyboard and mouse plugged at the same time, you will need to purchase a USB Type-C adapter. Also, there is an HDMI port. A power button can be accidentally knocked every now and then so there is the potential issue of the Chromebook to be shut off.

The laptop is completely reversible, which is great these are apparently reinforced the hinges are which means that they shouldn`t die expectedly or break. And there`s a little bit of resistance too.

The Lenovo 300e has the option to use the Google Play Store and Android apps. The battery lasts up to 10 hours.

Lenovo C330

The Lenovo C330 is more like a large tablet, you can carry it around. It has a touchscreen and running Chrome OS. It has a laptop version that lacks the wraparound screen but has the same specifications.

It`s nice and bright and very crisp with very good viewing angles. You also get some touch functionality with it too. And Chrome OS has been getting friendlier and friendlier for touch input as they continue developing it. It has a nice display for the price point. Not heavy as well.

8-10 hours of battery life depending on what you are doing with it. 10 hours if you are doing basic web browsing and email with the brightness turned down.

The USB type-c port will charge the laptop but will also allow for data and video. It is able to do 4k with a display port adapter, but only at 30 frames per second. The device also can output a second display via the laptop's internal display. You can get an adapter for the USB type-c if you need more. To get more storage, go with the 64 GB version.

For the tablet mode, you can use your handwriting or a finger. When browsing, you might notice the display jumps a bit but this thing relates to most lower-cost laptops. You will also have a little bit of display bounce here when you`re in either laptop or tablet mode. But things load pretty quickly.

The browser bench org speedometer test scores 47.5, which lines up exactly with the Chromebook R-13. The Acer Chromebook 11 has an Intel chip at costs about the same but does not do as well.

For a Chromebook, this MediaTek chip is actually not bad for an entry-level device and outperforms the entry-level Intel chip. It supports Google Play Store where you can install any app you need and also if you have some installed on your phone, you can run them on the laptop as well. Many casual games are available to install too.

The C330 supports Linux but it can be a bit slow so you might want to use it sparingly with Chrome OS.

The Lenovo C330 is a good device for lights tasks like browsing and everyday use. It can be used as a tablet as well, a little clunky but still usable tho.

To conclude

Both devices are very similar and are good for light browsing jobs, they have similar specifications and it might be challenging for someone to pick the best.

The Lenovo 300e supports a stylus, which might be important for some users but if you need more storage, the Lenovo C330 would be a better choice for you.
